Why we advertise like this.
Sexy. Direct. Unapologetic. The industry sells solemnity, heritage and moral theatre. DD sells pleasure — and says so at full volume. Same honesty as the rest of this site. Different decibels.
The joke is doing work
Every innuendo in this campaign lands on a claim that is literally true. “Engineered for maximum pleasure” — the stone is engineered; the pleasure is the product. “Size doesn’t matter? Really?” — face-up size is exactly what DD optimises. “Not an investment, just pure pleasure” — the same sentence appears, deadpan, in our answers pages. The provocation is the disclosure, wearing better clothes.
Diamond advertising has spent a century solemn: heritage, eternity, moral gravity. That register exists to justify a price. DD’s price does not need a myth — so the advertising is free to say what jewellery is actually for.

Where we draw the line
The provocation aims at the industry’s pieties, never at the customer. The disclosures stay literal — laboratory-grown, complete price, real dispatch date — in every execution, including the cheeky ones. And when an ad needs an asterisk, we make the asterisk the punchline.
If it made you smile and you still know exactly what you are buying, the campaign has done its job. The deadpan version lives here
